Hard to Watch

Had breakfast with my wife and daughter at Ki's (Cardiff) this morning. We were there waiting to meet up with some friends visiting from out-of-town. The surf wasn't epic, but there were definitely some very fun-looking waves. Now, my family is the most important thing in the world to me, but damn! Anyone who has dealt with looking at sparkling glassy surf while unable to partake knows that painful tension I'm talking about.

Now it's raining.

Oh, why does it always happen? I wanted to surf today, but could tell my husband wanted me to go on a bike ride with him. When we got to the beach, the waves looked nicer than I'd expected. I hope I did a good job of pretending I wasn't kicking myself for going riding (and spending quality time) with him.

Nice to feel a little more sane. Thanks for checking in.

I surfed Cardiff that day. My wife got down to the reef early as usual, she didn't surf. It improved as the tide rose. I surfed around 9:30 and was pleasantly surprised that it was more fun than it looked (not to add insult to injury).

Definately know the feeling...

The flip side of the coin is when you do surf and you know you shouldn't. Not a great feeling either!
