Flexy

I've been using a True Ames L-Flex in my 7' teardrop pintail egg. I'm really into it. I've had a Frye flex in it since November and it's been fun comparing/contrasting the two. They're both great, but I'm gonna keep the L-Flex in for a while. Anyone else using this fin? Any other fin favorites/feedback?

Yes, I love that fin. So thin, light, flexy. I actually use an 8" with little 3" side bites on my 7'8" egg. I know, purists will scoff at the side bites, but it goes real well. I do like the Skip also...

I am using the 9" in an 8'2" hull. Interesting fin, no doubt. I have heard that the ones made out of volan have a better flex pattern but I don't have the other one to compare.

I still need to choose a fin for my next project, a 7'6" single fin egg. How about a pic of your board?

I was considering the L "b" version on the MP3 (7'10" Terry Martin egg) now that I'm riding it as a single.
I had been using the two lokbox sides RB somethings and a 7" Takayama finger fin. It tracked too much with the sides.
I'm currently riding it with a 9" Tudor step, but I'd like a little more rake and flex.

Anon 1, what's the board you're riding?

Anon 2, good to hear the 9" is working well in your 8'2" hull. I was thinking of using a 9" in my forthcoming Andreini. I have an 8.5" in the 7' egg. I'm also really curious about the Volan flex fins.

Clay, I will post a pic of the board in a forthcoming post. I've been without digital camera, but that will change soon. Looking forward to seeing how the board comes out.

Alan, the Tudor V Flex looks kind of interesting too. Have you heard anything about it? Looks like a narrower base. I'm also curious about the "b" version of the L-Flex.

I have that fin on my 7'6 diamond tail egg. It's a lot of fun. In fact, I rode that board today. The board itself tends to chug a little when the surf is slow, but that fin gives it a lot of glide and enough rake to do some fun arcing turns and still weave.
