Have You Used This?

I'm usually all about Sticky Bumps, but I've been curious about this wax. You've heard it a million times, but I do think it's important to continue exploring more sustainable surf materials. Since I prefer polyurethane blanks and more traditional board-building, this can get tricky. As such, the new Pavel will be shaped from a Biofoam blank. Scott Henry recently made me a board with a Homeblown MDI blank and it has been great. Aside from exploring more sustainable materials, Homeblown US is a local San Diego company.

Anyway, if you have used GreenSurf wax and would be willing to send a comment, anything would be appreciated. I have contemplated ordering it at wetsand a million times. Man, I just realized I'm overthinking surf wax.

I have 8 bars that I will gladly mail to you. My specific complaint about this wax is that it is slippery and smells funny.

While the plastic coating leaves something to be desired, sex wax is still where it's at for me.

Hope that helps.

Hmm...slippery and smells funny. Doesn't sound too promising; especially since you're an eco-minded bloke. I appreciate you taking the time to send that feedback. If I could buy a single bar at a local shop I'd be more apt to check it out. Maybe that will be an option sometime soon.

i've always been dedicated to sticky bumbs as well. i switched over to the green wax you have pictured in july. i haven't slipped once, and it's never felt to hard.

here's the few things that you deal with, but i feel it is a fair trade off in an effort to minimize petroleum use— especially when you think about how much surf wax gets in our ocean water:

1. when the wax warms up in the car its hard to tell the dif between the cool vs cold bar— not a problem if the wrapper is still on it or you keep stored in an organized way.

2. when your board goes through a heat up then cool down in your car the green wax seems more prone to soften then harden than petrol wax. BUT i've founf that with a quick frash top coat and a good wax combing it comes back to life easily.

3. i feel it works best when completely rewaxing your board w/ the green basecoat, but it also works when i top coat it onto a baord that already has sticky bumps on it.

so, all in all, it works, definitely worth giving it a go to see if it jives with your feet— KEY WORDS: wax comb per session.
