Ouch

Saw this Bing quad on Craigslist and had to cringe a bit. Now, it's a bit unfair because I've never used traction pads and probably never will, but I think people should do what they want to do. So, I'm not necessarily "anti traction pad," but sometimes things just don't work together. This is, in my opinion, one of those times. Just doesn't feel right to me. Kind of like a leash on a fully traditional heavy classic log. Just doesn't click.

I agree. I have to say that it is no surprise that this board is for sale. The owner, who is no doubt a 5'10"x18.5"x2.25" kinda person, wanted to jump on the quad wagon but gave up after trying to surf it like a modern thruster. I see this all the time with "used" twins, quads, etc. Oh well, their loss our gain.

traction pads ruined surfing!

You know, I have been a bit skeptical about riding a fish with deck grip. Aesthetically and stylistically. But after giving it a try, I like it. Perhaps it's in part of the way that I was raised surfing. My back foot looks for that security blanket. Maybe it's the thruster rider in me that wants to hit the breaks after booking down the line... that for me is not so much a compromise of style, it's more of how you connect your flow overall -

I agree with dP. I resisted the stomp pad for awhile but finally gave in when I felt like I needed to be more on the tail. I have the same Bing and it has become my main board (and with a pad) even on surf trips.
